A message from the teachings
People today certainly need words, but most of all they need us to bear witness to the mercy and tenderness of the Lord which warms the heart, rekindles hope, and attracts people towards the good. What a joy it is to bring God’s consolation to others!
Pope Francis entrusts this mission to consecrated men and women.
Service in the Church arises out of the joy of meeting the Lord and from his call. This mission is to bring to the men and women of our time the consolation of God, to bear witness to his mercy .
WE, FRANCISCAN SISTERS
OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION BRING
GOD'S CONSOLATION AND JOY
TO OTHERS THROUGH OUR MINISTRIES
IN THE CHURCH
Our mission in the Church is to live a Gospel life in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and to build up God’s Kingdom through the exercise of a variety of apostolic ministries. Today sisters are always ready to respond to the needs of the local church, particularly in the pastoral care of the poor and needy. From the very beginnings of our Congregation’s life and history, our Sisters have engaged in a variety of ministries:
The Work of the Innocents - Pro Life
The Society of the Innocents was formed as a means of responding to the British Parliament’s passing of the Abortion Act of 1967. With soaring abortion figures, the Motherwell Diocese decided to take a radical step to offer an alternative to abortion through counselling and advice, and by supporting women who were overwhelmed with the prospect of raising a child by providing material assistance and offering accommodation.
Education “Let the little children come to me as to such belongs the kingdom of God” One of the most beautiful gifts you can offer an individual is education. One of our primary apostolates is the witness we give through the apostolate of education.
Srs Rosaria and Maria Goretti continue with the work of the Innocents bringing life and hope to others. Here the work of the Innocents continues to offer free pregnancy tests, layettes and most importantly, counselling services.
Abandoned babies home/orphanage . As the Sisters continue to respond to the need of the local church, they are involved in meeting the spiritual, physical, psychological and material needs of these lovely children.
